WHO I AM

My name is William Mader. I live in New York. I have several relatives in New Zealand. I grew up hearing stories about my distant relative (fourth cousin to be exact) Brigadier General James Hargest of New Zealand. He lead a battalion of Maori soldiers (28th Battalion) during World War 2. He was the highest ranked officer to escape captivity during World War 2. He escaped a prison castle near Florence Italy. He later died in action on the front lines at Normandy in 1944. For many years I have been interested in the Maori soldiers he lead. I have had the privilege to visit New Zealand a few times and hope to get back soon. I have relatives there and have made many
valuable connections.
